Staff from Singapore Polytechnic Department of Mathematics and Science skipped school on 16 April 2009 to reach out to public assistance recipients residing in the southwestern part of Singapore.
Food essentials and vouchers amounting to about $7000 were raised by staff. During the event, staff delivered $50 worth of food products and voucher to each of the 140 recipients to help them tide though these difficult times.
The event provided staff with an opportunity to bless the community and at the same time, get to know them. Here are their experiences ...
The Planning Committee would like to thank all MS staff ... Thank you for your enthusiastic support and for going out with your heart to touch the community. You made the event possible. You rock! - Edna
ReplyDeleteAnother note of affirmation for the organising committee for a job well done!

ReplyDeleteI was trying to start this "highlight of the day" thingy with my 4 years old son over dinner yesterday and guess what.... this event was the first ever highlight of the day that I shared with my son.
ReplyDeleteAs a person from humble family background when I was young, this visit invoked lots of memories in my head. It was like revisiting some of my ex-neighbours in REDHILL. Really meaningful for me.
Yesterday, was a great day for me :-)I have experienced this spirit of giving to the poor and the elderly by delivery care packages right to the doorsteps to the needy families, the giving to the lonely elderly, poor and disable has really shared the warmth of my heart. My heart gets a blissful feeling which cannot be bought with money.
ReplyDeleteThrough this meaning community service day, we are able to gel all the spirit of volunteerism and we have a great day together to aid in well-being of the lonely elderly and poor through community participation.
Definitely it was a very good cause that our MS family contributed as a team. I learnt that there are so many people who are lonely and need love and affection (apart from money).
ReplyDeleteI better stop complaining about life!!
Through this event, I have a greater appreciation of the life that I lead and deem to be “normal” – when it is pretty extraordinary in comparison to many others.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great experience and meaningful for me!
ReplyDeleteI have learnt that we should always cherish things in life and there always people who are less fortunate. It is heartwarming to be able to contribute to them.
Special thanks to Edna for leading the team!
Thanks a lot for organizing the event. Very meaningful. Hopefully it will be a regular one.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a meaningful event organised by MS department. We really have enjoyed the task and have celebrated our success @ the Sakura, sharing our thoughts and the wonderful experiences in helping the less fortunate ones. A job well done. :-) BRAVO.........
ReplyDeleteNothing like you see it for yourself the less fortunate ones in our midst. They were very thankful and contented with the little help we gave them and not asking for more.
ReplyDeleteThe event was well planned and executed. Credit should be given to the organising committee for a job well done! This is truly a meaningful outreach event to the less fortunate in our society and a time for us to reflect and cherish what we have in our lives.
ReplyDeleteJust a little contribution and effort might be able to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate people. Thanks to the MS department and the organising committee for giving me a chance to help the needy people and appreciate my life better.
ReplyDeleteIt's truly a touching experience. Wish I could share all the heartfelt stories...Liwen mopping the splashed coffee...family takes care of unrelated retarted patient...
