MS Symposium 2012
School of Mathematics & Science held its first MS Symposium on Teaching & Learning Practices on 12 December 2012 Wednesday (what an auspicious date!).
Colleagues from School of Mathematics & Science, CLS, EDU as well as Academic Mentors were invited to attend the symposium to share and learn from one another. About 50 colleagues turned up for the symposium.
Two guest speakers, Mr John Yeo from NIE and Ms Virginie Servant from Promethea Education, were invited to share their expertise during plenary sessions. Mr John Yeo’s presentation was about authentic pedagogy of creative thinking and how it is applied to teaching of math & science subjects. Ms Servant shared her expertise on the various models of PBL in different educational institutes.
Lecturers from MS also shared their experiences of trying out various pedagogies in their classrooms during the concurrent sessions.
It was a fruitful morning of sharing and bonding.
